Watch Duty App Creator Highlighted in USC Viterbi’s National News Show
Launched during National Engineer’s Week 2023, “The Circuit” is the first national engineering news network created for social media.
The weekly show, produced by the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, in partnership with the National Academy of Engineering, has over half a million subscribers (as of early March 2025).
Hosted by Emmy-nominated broadcast journalist Omar Lewis, each weekly episode (released each Thursday on YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and TikTok) showcases the biggest engineering news in higher education, industry, government, K-12 education and pop culture, in a matter of minutes.
As part of its current season, “The Circuit” highlighted the engineer behind Watch Duty, which became the most downloaded app in the country during the 2025 L.A. wildfires.
